Report Of The Event International Yoga Day - 2026Under the new initiative of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences – Yoga Programme for Students, a 10-Day Yoga Camp was conducted in connection with International Day of Yoga 2026 at Sharavathi Dental College in association with Siddapur Institute of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, affiliated to RGUHS, along with Dishabodh Foundation. The programme aims to promote awareness regarding yoga and its benefits among the public and students through various activities.In this regard, a 10-day Yoga Camp was conducted at our institution from 12th June 2026 to 21st June 2026. Yoga trainers were deputed by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, from Siddapur Institute of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences (SMINYS), Siddapur. Nominated students were Dr. Nikhitha M. V., Ms. Harshitha, and Ms. Swathi C. The yoga trainers facilitated the successful implementation of the yoga camp activities at our institution and the International Day of Yoga Celebrations. Every day, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM, trainers conducted yoga activities in our institution.With regard to Order No. NDC/UGPG-DEB/DC/2026/DEB-22 dated 11/06/2026 and Ref. No. RGU/10D-YC/IDY-2026/01/2026-27 dated 29/05/2026, the International Day of Yoga was celebrated on 21st June 2026 in our college. The programme began with the blessings of God at 8:00 AM, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Tejonidhi, who highlighted the significance of yoga in daily life. This was followed by a speech on yoga and meditation by Dr. Sanjana, who explained the origin of yoga in India and its importance in enhancing physical fitness, mental health, stress management, and overall well-being.After the speech, our yoga instructors Dr. Nikhitha M. V., Ms. Harshitha, and Ms. Swathi C. G. guided the participants through various yoga postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), and meditation techniques. The participants performed different yoga practices such as Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Bhujangasana, and Surya Namaskar. Dr. Nikhitha M. V. explained the benefits of each posture, while Ms. Harshitha and Ms. Swathi C. G. demonstrated the practices and encouraged everyone to practice yoga regularly for a healthy lifestyle.The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Tejonidhi. The celebration was successful in promoting awareness about the benefits of yoga and inspired participants to incorporate yoga into their daily routines. Everyone appreciated the initiative and expressed their commitment to maintaining good health through regular yoga practice.

A mega free dental check-up & treatment camp was conducted for corporation workers of Shivamogga city from 5th to 7th of August.

In a joint community initiative by Sharavathi Dental College & Shivamogga Municipal Corporation, a mega free dental check-up & treatment camp was conducted for corporation workers of Shivamogga city from 5th to 7th of August. The camp was conceived as a part of Oral Hygiene Week 2025, under the umbrella of various departments. A fruitful three-day event saw the corporation workers visit our campus in large numbers for their dental check-up, with many availing free treatment for their tooth-related ailments. The camp was spearheaded by our Principal, Dr. Samrat M. R., Vice Principal, Dr. Shrinidhi M. S., and Dr. Meghashyam Bhat, HOD of Preventive & Community Health Dentistry, and was assisted by specialist dentists & post-graduate students across all departments of the dental hospital. On the sidelines, awareness sessions in the local language were conducted by the specialty departments on signs & symptoms of the most common oral health problems and various treatment options available in today’s day & age to keep the teeth & gums strong & healthy. The camp was a great success and was lauded by the representatives of Shivamogga Municipal Corporation.

SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATION OF SHARAVATHI EDUCATION TRUST & INAUGURATION OF SHARAVATHI DENTAL COLLEGE’S

Malenadu region’s educational pioneer, Sharavathi Education Trust, held its Silver Jubilee celebrations on 12th of July 2025, amidst a distinguished & stellar gathering of public & social figures. It was also an event to inaugurate the iconic new auditorium of Sharavathi Dental College & Hospital.The event was a spectacle to behold, as it was graced by Shri S. Madhu Bangarappa (Honorable Minister of Education, Govt. of Karnataka), Shri Bhimanna T. Naik (MLA, Sirsi Siddapura constituency), Shri S. N. Channabasappa (MLA, Shivamogga), Shri Beluru Gopalakrishna (MLA, Sagara), Smt. Bilkis Banu (MLC, Shivamogga), Shri Arun D. S. (MLC, Shivamogga), Shri Dhananjaya Sarji (MLC, Shivamogga), Gurudatta Heggade (DC, Shivamogga), Dr. Samrat M. R. (Honorable Principal, SDCH) & Dr. Shrinidhi M. S. (Vice Principal), along with other honored guests & media.Speaking to the students & state media, the distinguished guests fondly remembered the immense contributions of Late Shri S. Bangarappa (Former Chief Minister, Karnataka State) in shaping the landscape of affordable medical & dental education & treatment in Shivamogga. They also congratulated Shri S. Madhu Bangarappa & the current administration, including the Principal, on efficiently carrying on the legacy & guiding Sharavathi Dental College through an evolving renaissance, making it the most sought-after institution for aspiring dental students and, at the same time, catering to the dental health needs of masses from all across the Malnad region. The brand-new auditorium at Sharavathi Dental College is a state-of-the-art structure with all advanced amenities and a large accommodating capacity for CDE programmes, National & International conferences.
