The World No Tobacco Day 2023 was celebrated by the Sharavathi Dental College and Hospital Shimoga and organized by the Department of Public Health Dentistry. With the theme “Grow Food Not Tobacco”. The event was organized for a period of 3 days starting from 29 th May and ended on 31 st May 2023. Placard and quiz competitions related to tobacco consumption, Collage on harmful aspects of tobacco use and debate on various topics of public health importance were conducted for UG students. On 31-5-23, the event was preceded with Prayer Song, Lighting the lamp by the Hon principal Prof Dr. Samrat Hegde and the Vice Principal Dr. Shrinidhi MS and faculty from the Dept of Public Health Dentistry. Speech on harmful effects of tobacco by Hon, Principal Dr. Samrat Hegde, Dr. Shrinidhi MS Vice Principal and Dr. Meghashyam Bhat HOD, Public Health Dentistry stressed on the theme for 2023. Harmful effects of Tobacco stressed by Intern Dr. Megha M in Kannada -Pledge against Tobacco use. Prize and certificate distribution to the winners of the various competitions. Flash Mob performed by students at the entrance. No tobacco Rally in Shimoga city (Gopi circle to City Centre Mall). Free Dental Check-up camp conducted at the Mall with the distribution of referral cards.
