Oral health awareness week was inaugurated on 19th March Saturday by DrSamrat MR, principal, DrShrinidhi MS, vice principal, Dr Usha C, academic head in presence of public and students. Principal stressed about the importance of oral health and announced that free scaling and restorations would be done for patients from March 19th to 26th. He urged the patients to utilise this benefit. Further, patients were enrolled for free complete dentures.
On 21st March, there was a health education talk given by Dr. Shrinidhi, professor and head department of Periodontology as per the guidelines issued by the Indian society of Periodontology. Dr Samrat, professor and head department of Cons and Endo presented a lecture on the role of caries prevention in oral health. Dr Gururaj, professor department of Oral and maxillofacial surgery and DrUsha professor and head department of oral medicine and radiology addressed the gathering about the Ill effects of tobacco and awareness of oral cancer.
On 22nd March, Dr Syeda, reader department of Prosthodontics, presented a talk on oral care in geriatric patients. Dr Pradeep mc, professor department of Paediatric dentistry addressed the gathering about Oral health care in children. Following this, a screening camp was conducted in Malnad international school. All teachers and students availed the benefits.
On 23rd March, Sree S Madhubangarappa, Ex MLA, and community activist presided over the function. The head of the institution conveyed the importance of need of oral health awareness amongst the masses. In this regard, he assured that a dental health screening and treatment camp will be organised in Sorab.
Free Treatment were continued on 24 th ,25th March, and free treatment was conducted at the satellite centre of the institution.
